02092011

I want to write some thoughts, although I can only manage to grab a few words and turn them into something sensible or somewhat near. Words are floating in my head but I can't compose them to form what I want to convey. Listening to A Fine Frenzy, I try to write. My mind wandering to be somewhere else, far. Sleepy is my head, drowsy with much needed rest, after a long day at work. I clicked stop to my music player.

This entry ends here.

My playlist to lounge around, music for the body and soul

Are you tired after a long day at work or need to drink a bottle or two? Here is a playlist I made to lounge around and I think is perfect to ease one's mind. Not loud at all nor meant to be played loud, and are heavy on symphonies of different instruments. Tracks include songs from the chilling vocals of A Fine Frenzy, to the cold and melancholic tracks of Death Cab for Cutie, to the base laden tracks of Hooverphonic and the garage sound of The Black Keys; as well as songs from other artists with low key sound made to lay down a tired soul and uplift one's mood.

So get comfy and prepare the best pair of headphones or earphones you have, plug it in to your Mac or PC and click play, then close your eyes and set your mind free.

Death Cab for Cutie - Grapevine Fires

"Grapevine Fires"

When the wind picked up the fire spread
And the grapevines seemed left for dead.
And the northern sky, like the end of day,
The end of days.

A wake up call to a rented room
Sounded like an alarm of impending doom.
To warn us it's only a matter of time.
Before we all burn

We bought some wine and some papercups
Near your daughter's school when we picked her up
And drove to a cemetery on a hill
On a hill.

And we watched the plumes paint the sky gray
And she laughed and danced through the field of graves
There I knew it would be alright
That everything would be alright,
Would be alright
Would be alright
Would be alright...

And the news reports on the radio
Said it was getting worse
As the ocean air fanned the flame.
But I couldn't think of anywhere I would have rather been
To watch it all burn away.
To burn away.

The firemen worked in double shifts,
With prayers for rain on their lips
And they knew it was only a matter of time.

Lazy Monday/Sabit

During my rest days, there are only 4 things that I usually do... I read books, listen to music, watch cable TV(I am not that into local TV shows, not that most are tastelessly done, but only the local news catches my interest most of the time. I don't even watch foreign TV series that much either), blog and bloghop, or sleep.

I don't like going to the malls, The only time I go to malls is when I am going to do grocery shopping or if I am going to buy something specific, like clothes, gadgets, or something I need. If I need to lounge outside my condo, the mall is the last place you'll see me. I usually hangout at less crowded places or where I can watch people and just let time pass by. I don't like going out at all. If ever I have the itch to do a street shoot, I always look for a place where there are less people, and I do it usually on Mondays. I hate crowded places.

I bought a 500GB portable hard drive last Saturday in the Photoworld 2011 expo. The hard drive was originally priced at P3,700, and was on sale for P2,900... What a bargain, right?! So I bought it right away, plus it's a limited edition design; it's not Mac ready 'though, meaning I have to reformat it. When I got home, I quickly plugged it in, reformat it, and transferred all my music files, ebooks, and jpegs to their new home. I was able to free up a lot of space in my Mini's drive, from a mere 1.2 GB free now to 17GB free.

With this new drive of mine I can now shoot in RAW format when I photograph. t is not necessary to shoot RAW all the time, but what I notice is that when I shoot landscapes in jpeg format, the horizon's color transition is not that pretty. For example, a sunset photograph that has several orange hues, from bright orange to rusty orange, the color transition of hues does not blend in nicely. According to the internet, it is because of the compression, so therefore, shooting in RAW format is the solution.

I miss shooting photographs. Inspiration has not visited me for a long time now.
